Dakota Geer told the Stillwater News Press this week that he’ll be coming back for another season.
The NCAA’s COVD-19 eligibility waiver allows athletes an extra year due to 2020’s pandemic madness. But it was far from a foregone conclusion that he would make use of it.
“I flip-flopped back and forth, and actually when I called my mom up the last time, she told me she’s just not gonna say anything to anyone because she’s already told them so many things,” Geer told the Stillwater News Press.
Geer, now a three-time All-American, finishing in the top eight twice at the NCAA tournament, and once receiving a nod from the NWCA following the cancellation of the 2020 NCAA tournament, said his intention is to return to 184 pounds.
Last year Geer finished fifth at the NCAA tournament at 184 and seventh in 2019.
Geer was one of the final Oklahoma State seniors that had yet to announce their intentions for this season. Kaid Brock and Boo Lewallen have both announced they’re moving on and Dusty Hone and Dakota Geer will both be back for a final season.
